Golf at the Exclusive Goodwood Course

Goodwood Golf Course consists of 18 sublime holes over unencumbered, mostly open rolling land in Markham, Ontario. The course is exceptional, with devilish greens and plunging fairways that roam a piece of land with few rivals.

Created by the late Calgary oil entrepreneur Gordon Stollery, owner of Angus Glen Golf Club, which hosted the 2002 and 2007 Canadian Opens, Goodwood is a golfer’s playground. Using English architects Mackenzie and Edbert, Stollery built a course on a wild rolling piece of property whose design is highlighted by efficient land use and a relative lack of earth moving.

Highlights of the design include: rectangular tee boxes, greens with significant slope and seamless transition from surrounds to putting surface, greenside bunkers surrounded by mown fairway length bentgrass, edges with fescue to create a rough or unfinished look, severe fairway bunkers, each fairway complex framed with fescue and natural grasses, and green surrounds shaped in a complex and “natural” fashion.
